NEIL Warnock has once again spoken of his affection for Morton after being announced as Aberdeen's interim manager until the end of the season.

The 75-year-old replaces Barry Robson, who was sacked last week following a 1-1 draw against Dundee at Pittodrie which left the club eighth in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking to reporters today following his appointment, Warnock said: "It's been a long time, I've always wanted to manage up here.

"I've got a place at Dunoon, I've always had a place down there.

"My club's Greenock Morton, I've got bricks there with the family's name on it.

"I've always enjoyed going to watch a game there."

The former Sheffield United and Cardiff City boss regularly stays in Dunoon and joined the fan ownership group Morton Club Together in 2022.

He brought his United side to Cappielow for a pre-season friendly in 2006 just after they had been promoted to the English top flight.

He has also attended several games at Cappielow.

The Dons will be the 17th British club Warnock has taken charge of, but his first in Scotland.
