MORTON boss Dougie Imrie wants supporters to pack out the Cowshed and turn Cappielow into a cauldron for Friday night's big cup tie against Motherwell.

The 'Well will be cheered on by a big away support, with over 1,200 tickets sold for their end already.

The Ton manager wants locals to do their bit and fill the home end so they can be a twelfth man against Stuart Kettlewell's Premiership side.

After their 5-0 romp over Dunfermline on Saturday, Imrie believes that Morton couldn't be in better shape for the big clash.

He told the Tele: "Our result on Saturday, getting a clean sheet as well as scoring five goals, is a massive boost for us heading into Friday night's game.

"The amount of clean sheets we've secured in the last thirteen games is unbelievable, that's nine we've got now in that time.

"It's really pleasing that we're keeping the ball out of the net at one end and now we're scoring them at the other. It sets us up for Friday nicely, with the cameras there and the boys full of confidence.

"It'll not be an easy game, Motherwell are a Premiership side who deserve all the respect that's due, but all of the pressure is on them.

"We just have to go out and play in the way we know how. And if we play anything like we did at East End Park on Saturday then Motherwell will know they're in for a tough game.

"It would be great to get a big crowd in at Cappielow, it's a Friday night so hopefully we can make a great occasion of it.

"Please take this as a rallying cry but don't go to work, come and sing and dance, have a right good occasion down here because I'm certainly looking forward to the game.

"I'd like to thank the fans for giving me the backing they have from day one but hopefully we can keep this run going."

Imrie was keen to praise goalscoring duo Jack Baird and Darragh O'Connor after both bagged a brace in Fife at the weekend.

He says it's great to see both back fit and firing after being plagued with injury in the first half of the season.

Imrie said: "You'll not see that very often, two centre halves scoring four goals between them. "In fairness all of them were great finishes, which you'd expect a striker to score. They've been terrific for me.

"They've had a bit of a hard time this season with injuries and the like. I'm glad to see they're now back to their best because they're top players."
