MORTON boss Dougie Imrie couldn't be scraped off cloud-nine as he avenged the wrongs of Fir Park two years ago by dumping Motherwell out of the Scottish Cup.
The Ton boss was blown away by the support that the 5,000-plus inside Cappielow gave his men as a new night was etched into the history books to remember and he hopes that the club can continue to see crowds of that ilk going forward.
He admits that whilst last week's result against Dunfermline and this weekend's triumph over Motherwell were at two ends of the scale, they both gave him maximum satisfaction as he let all his emotions out at full time.
Imrie told the Tele: "Listen, I'm thicker than that, but if the Motherwell fans want to give it out then they'll need to take it. It's not nice to hear the chants that they sing but that's part and parcel of football.
"If they think that's going to bother me, they'll need to find something else to sing about.
"I can't lie, that's probably up there with one of the performances of the season.
"But when we beat Dunfermline five-nil last week, we kept a clean sheet and scored five times, I'm disappointed we lost the goal that we did tonight.
"But again, my two strikers have scored two goals. George's was fantastic, he's ran from the halfway line right through and finishes it off brilliantly.
"I thought to a man they managed the occasion brilliantly which is really important for me.
"That's up there with one of if not my best nights at Cappielow. There was a night against St Johnstone that we lost in the last minute to a dubious re-taken penalty, but tonight eclipses that.
"I just want to keep the run going, I just want to be successful, as do my staff, my players and the club. The run at the moment is fabulous and we want to continue that.
"We can't get too ahead of ourselves, but tonight's result could be a turning point for this club. If we can get over 5,000 in every week, wow. The players deserve it.
"That was special, the fans were unbelievable."
Imrie says that the bumper crowd on Sinclair Street was one of the best he's been involved in during his time in the game.
But he says his players helped spark something special by punishing an off-colour Motherwell at the right times.
He continued: "I thought it was an electric atmosphere, a really special one to be involved in."
