MORTON general manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald has pledged that the club will do everything it can to grow its fanbase.

Over 5,000 fans packed into Cappielow for Friday night's cup win over Motherwell, including a new 'Cowshed' supporters group.

They unveiled a banner hailing boss Dougie Imrie and helped generate a raucous atmosphere which Pryde-MacDonald says he wants to build on.

He told the Tele: "I spoke to two fan groups last week and it's important that as a club, we bridge the gap between the following that the club got ten to fifteen years ago, to what we get now.

"We saw earlier in the season, at the Partick Thistle game here, that there is the audience for it, for folk to come along to Cappielow and support their team.

"But the club needs to engage and bring something to the party as well, we need to make sure that we do something for them as well.

"That could be helping them get flags, drums, or whatever they need to feel a part of it. You saw the potential that the club holds on Friday when we had over 5,000 here.

"I've said it since I've come in, I'll work with any supporter and my door is always open. We're more than willing to work with any fan to help maximise the fanbase.

"When you look at this club and the size of Inverclyde, it's a one club county, there's so much potential for this club. But in order for that to happen we need to get everyone on board.

"It is something that I wanted to do, to maximise the fanbase. If that means embracing the fan culture and helping them out, it can only be a good thing. We saw the atmosphere the other night, we want to build, support and enable that."
