MORTON boss Dougie Imrie is demanding that his players maintain the high standards they have set for themselves as they travel to Hampden to face Queen's Park.

Ton head into tomorrow's game in fine fettle, with an incredible 13 game unbeaten run under their belt which includes 10 victories since mid-November, including last week's shock success against Premiership Motherwell.

But the manager insists his players must keep their feet on the ground, especially as they are facing another form side this weekend.

Imrie told the Tele: "The important thing for us just now is to keep our feet on the ground and take things a game at a time.

"I know the boys will do that, they're level headed but the most important game is always the next one.

"We know it will be a difficult game against Queen's Park. We've played them twice this season and picked up four points out of six, and I don't think I've lost to them in my time at the club, although that's not to say that won't change.

"We just want to keep the run going and put the pressure on the teams above us, whilst building a bit of a gap between ourselves and the teams below.

"Every game is getting tougher because every team is fighting for wins just now, from top to bottom. This league is absolute mayhem.

"We've got Raith v Dundee United tonight at one end of the table and Dunfermline-Arbroath at the other tomorrow, and they're both massive games.

"All the matches that are coming up are going to be frantic, there will be ups and downs but we just need to concentrate on ourselves and cancel out any outside noise, because there's some interesting ties coming up in the next few weeks.

"If we can win on Saturday, and Raith lose tonight, the gap cuts down to nine. Everything is still to play for in the home straight and we've got the momentum behind us and we want to continue that.

"But I've got a lot of respect for Callum Davidson and Liam Craig, who have gone in at Queen's Park. Under them they've turned the corner. They have won four of their last five and are one of the form teams in the league, but we're looking forward to the challenge."

Imrie says he has been mindful of avoiding his players suffering a hangover from the high of last Friday's cup heroics.

Greenock Telegraph:

He told the Tele that the focus at training has been on rest and recovery.

Imrie said: "We're on a high after Friday night so we've got to be careful that we don't come off of that and drop our performance levels. The boys put a lot into the game. We've been a little bit easier on them this week to try and get them fired up for this one tomorrow because we're coming into a really packed part of the season now.

"We've got a period of five games in 13 days coming up, so everyone will be getting used, and that's why we've assembled the squad that we have."
