MORTON went on a marvellous unbeaten run which took us from bottom of the league to promotion hopefuls and that achievement should not be underestimated.

But unfortunately we have to be realistic and realise that is the past whilst the present doesn’t look rosy in any way!

Realism is something many of us don’t really want to listen to but I’m afraid at this present time we do need to acknowledge the fact that something is just not right down in Sinclair Street.

On Saturday we were almost back to full strength and whilst I do believe we should not have lost the game we did and now without doubt we need to be concerned that a run of six games without a win has taken us back within touching reach of the relegation playoffs.

With that being said we now have a huge game on Saturday where a win could perhaps bring us back into the frame for the promotion playoffs, crazy or what?

For me the most worrying thing is that there at least three or four players who are contributing nothing to the team at this moment, including two who are back playing at the level when they were being heavily criticised by the supporters a couple of years ago but now have personal support songs to their name.

I never believe any Morton player does not try but a stint on the bench is certainly required for some of these underperforming players, and perhaps it’s time to give all the subs from Saturday a start this week?
