MORTON hitman Robbie Muirhead insists that his side's play-off destiny is in their own hands after beating Queen's Park last week.

The striker scored against the Spiders and he is eyeing up more of the same when they travel to take on Airdrie today.

The 16-goal hitman left North Lanarkshire frustrated last time around with a 0-0 draw, after the team failed to create many clear cut chances.

Muirhead told the Tele: "I said leading up to the game last week that if we wanted to finish in the top four then beating Queens Park was a must.

"It means that it is still firmly in our hands if we want to be in there, and not having to rely on other teams losing.

"The last game up at Airdrie in December was frustrating because we didn’t create a lot.

"If we win at the weekend it puts us back in front of them again. Obviously the Dunfermline result comes into things as well, but hopefully we can get something today and then out of our game in hand down at Ayr on Tuesday."

Muirhead is aiming to add to his goalscoring tally over the final six games of the Championship campaign.

He said: "It would be good to hit the 20-goal mark as a personal milestone as I've not done it before. But in all honesty I should be there already.

"The missed penalty against Dunfermline was on my mind that night and into the Monday after.

"But as the years have passed I’ve got better at not dwelling on things as much. I’ve missed chances before, I’ll miss them again. It’s part and parcel of being an attacking player."
