TON boss Dougie Imrie is believes his side can make a statement by bursting the Bairns’ bubble when they visit Cappielow this afternoon.

The Morton manager’s men face a stern task today as they take on a flying Falkirk side who have not lost a league fixture in over a year.

But Imrie believes that all good things must come to an end, and says his players have what it takes to bring the curtain down on their visitors' unbeaten streak.

He told the Tele: “They have to lose at one stage. The bubble is there to be burst; why can’t that be us?

“They’ve got a good team, they’ve got a very good management team and they’ve got good players.

“They deserve all the plaudits for the run they’ve been on and that’s testament to them. It’s not easy to go a full season in League One and not be beat, and they’ve started this year in the championship really well as well.

“We have to give them the respect they’re due, but we want to go and get the three points for Morton.

“We want to win as many games as we can at home and that doesn’t change no matter who comes, whether it’s Falkirk, Livingston, Partick. We want to win every home game.”

John McGlynn’s side have won all of their Championship fixtures so far this season and have also registered an impressive League Cup victory against Hearts.

While Morton’s record of three draws so far this league season is more modest, Imrie reckons they have the tools to give the visitors a bloody nose and is anticipating a good game.

He said: “I think it’ll be a cracker. We have to give then respect but for me we have to go and showcase how good we are as well.

“It’s going to be a good game for both sets of supporters. I’m looking forward to the Morton faithful coming and getting right behind the boys, as they always do.

“We have to stand up to what Falkirk are going to bring. We know where they can hurt us, but we also know where we can hurt them.

“They’ve got good players, there’s no getting past that, but we’ve also got good players.

“It’s got the makings of a great game.”

If Morton are to emerge victorious this afternoon, their manager says the side will have to convert more of the opportunities they are creating.

The Ton have had plenty of chances to score in their opening fixtures but are yet to find the net in open play.

Imrie added: “The boys have done fantastically well so far, with two clean sheets.

"We want to keep getting clean sheets and start adding goals as well.

“That’s what we’ve been working on this week: getting more entries into the box, more crosses into the box, and it’s been a good week’s training.

“You only win games by putting the ball in the net and we have to start converting the chances.

“In the three games so far, we’ve made some great opportunities and we’ve not taken them, especially at home. We had four or five clear cut opportunities [against Hamilton] that we never took.

“On another day you put at least one in the net, you come away with a one nil victory and you’re happy.

“But I’m really pleased with a lot of aspects of our game. Defensively we look really solid;it’s just now finding that killer instinct at the top end of the pitch to put the ball in the net.”
