MORTON development squad skipper Ruaridh Langan understands that making an impact in the first team under Jim Duffy was always going to be difficult.

With the likes of seasoned campaigners like Michael Tidser and Ross Forbes ahead of him in the pecking order, Langan was under the impression his time on the bench for Ton would be simply to listen and learn from the experienced players.

But after making his first-team debut in Ton’s last competitive outing against Queen of the South, the 19-year-old is hungry for more action in the Ladbrokes Championship.

He told the Tele: “I knew coming into the first team the last few weeks that the manager had the same core group of players that were here and did well last season.

“I knew that it would be mostly learning from them and watching.

“The likes of Michael Tidser, Forbesy [Ross Forbes] and Gary Harkins have all been playing in midfield so it was going to be difficult.

“But being more involved with the first team gives you more confidence and I just hope it continues to give me plenty more confidence going forward and allows me to kick on.”
