AIDAN MCADAMS reckons it will be a case of one step back and two forward as he eyes a loan move away from Rangers to boost his Ibrox first team ambitions.

The keeper crossed the Old Firm divide in June last year as he made the switch from Celtic and put pen-to-paper on a deal until the summer of 2020.

McAdams has quickly established himself between the sticks for the Light Blues and is aiming to go from strength to strength once again this term.

And the 19-year-old is keen to test himself in a competitive environment sooner rather than later to give him a platform upon which to build at Ibrox.

McAdams told SportTimes: “I settled in really well last season and I understand how Rangers as a club operate and play and it is a very stylish and attractive style of playing.

“But I need to get first team games before I can do much in the game and I have spoken to Craig Mulholland and Billy Kirkwood, who is now the Loan Manager for the Development Squad.

“And I have spoken to my two goalie coaches, Colin [Stewart] and Graeme Smith and we think the next thing for me is to go out and get that experience of playing against men week in week out. I am looking forward to that.

“Rangers are a huge club and that comes with its perks. Hopefully because I am at a big club, and with Rangers’ reputation, clubs will look at me and think that I can go and perform for them.

“Hopefully I can get that loan move and I will do my best wherever I am. If I make any mistakes, I will learn from them and I am sure I will enjoy the experience in a first team environment.

“That will allow me to hopefully go back to Rangers and implement what I have learned and get myself into the first team squad here.”
