FIVE jobs are under threat at a Greenock-based hair and beauty store, the Tele can reveal.

Sally Salon Services in Empress Court, Cartsburn, will close on 30 September after 16 years.

Bosses say the trade store for hair and beauty professionals has not been busy enough in recent years to keep going.

But management say they will do all they can to find other work for the staff.

The firm also has a store in the Oak Mall Shopping Centre, which will remain open.

A spokeswoman at the company told the Tele: “It is with regret that we can confirm our Greenock Cartsburn store will close on 30 September.

“Unfortunately, the store will be closing for commercial reasons due to poor trading over the last few years.

“We are working closely with staff affected by the closure and are investigating redeployment options.” A customer, who did not wish to be named, said he was upset to hear of the closure of the Carstburn Sally’s.

He told the Tele: “I have shopped here for the best part of 12 years and the staff are brilliant.

“I will miss their knowledge on all products and their customer service.

“The girls are obviously upset as they have all worked there from six to 15 years.

“We all wish the brilliant staff all the best.” The loss of the salon supplies outlet is the latest in a catalogue of closures affecting business across Inverclyde.

Sweeney’s hairdressing salon in Clyde Square was one of the casualties.
