YOUNGSTERS at a Greenock nursery raced to the top of the class — at a successful sports day event.
Gibshill Children’s Centre was a hive of activity when around 65 youngsters aged three to five took part in a series of events over the course of morning and afternoon sessions.
They were cheered on by their mums, dads, family and friends at the Smillie Street nursery.
Youngsters tried their hands at events including the baton relay and the ‘egg and spoon’ race.
There was also an obstacle course which mums and dads could also try out.
Greenock weightlifter and chairman of Sport Inverclyde George Byng was also in attendance, left, and helped present certificates and medals to the delighted youngsters after they completed the events.
Gibshill head of centre Janine Burns says it was a hugely-successful event and thanked everyone who was involved.
She said: “It was a great day — we got a great turnout from parents and family members.
“The children all did really well.
“We also had George Byng here and he gave out the certificates and medals which was nice.”
