A PAEDOPHILE Port optician who carried out sickening sexual offences against children as young as four is set to appeal his conviction, the Telegraph can reveal.

Boo Seng Khoo — who was found guilty of preying on girls over a period spanning eight years — insists that he is innocent of a catalogue of disgusting crimes.

The 61-year-old has lodged a notice of intent to appeal against his three-year prison sentence, as well as the decision of a jury to convict him after a harrowing trial.

Seng Khoo — who worked at Port Glasgow’s David Wyse optical practice — abused two girls between 2003 and 2011 before his appalling offences came to light.

He first targeted a four-year-old in a ‘lewd and libidinous’ way in June 2003.

The Malaysian-born pervert later sexually abused her on a number of occasions after she had turned 11 — between December 2010 and June 2011.

Seng Khoo also preyed on another underage girl between July 2003 and July 2008.

Both schoolgirls — who cannot be identified — were in the company of the vile offender at his home when he exploited them.

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals service today confirmed that Seng Khoo had begun the appeal process.

A spokesman said: “Notice of intent to appeal against conviction and sentence has been lodged.

“The grounds of appeal will be lodged at the beginning of February after he asked for an extension for more time to prepare the grounds.

“A first procedural hearing would not be anticipated before April, if the appeal gets through the sift process.”

Seng Khoo — who has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely — was convicted of two charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour and one of sexual assault at Glasgow Sheriff Court, pictured above.

The Telegraph told at the time of his conviction in October that the previously respected Port figure had also been suspended by his professional body, the General Optical Council, following a closed-doors fitness to practise hearing.
