AN all-star female cast including Still Game’s Jane McCarry and Lorraine McIntosh from Deacon Blue have been confirmed for a special stage show in Greenock.

They are among the line-up for a brand new production of comedy Mum’s The Word 2, which comes to the Beacon Arts Centre on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February.

The star-studded cast also features Libby McArthur from River City, ex-Radio Clyde presenter Suzie McGuire and former Balamory actress Julie Wilson Nimmo.

The Scottish tour commences at the King’s Theatre Glasgow from Tuesday 26 until Saturday January 30 before heading out around the country to Inverness, Perth, Dundee and then Greenock before moving onto Stranraer, Edinburgh and Ayr.

Jane McCarry replaces previously announced Gail Porter who pulled out earlier this month because of a scheduling mix-up.

Producer Robert C Kelly said: “I am very disappointed that at this late stage Gail is no longer available on key dates that now prevent her from taking part in the production. I have worked with Gail previously and enjoyed a good working relationship. We wish Gail only the best for whatever future projects she is involved in.”

Jane is best known for her portrayal of nosey neighbour Isa in the smash-hit Still Game television series and sell-out SSE Hydro stage shows.

However, as an actress her career spans the genres: her most recent works include starring roles in Arthur Miller’s The Last Yankee, which was on at the Beacon last year, and in the Greenock theatre’s 2014 professional panto Jack and the Beanstalk.

Mum’s The Word 2 is a brand-new version of the original hit show detailing the comedic horrors of rearing young children and now updated to include living with teenagers.

It follows the mums, now ‘older and wider’, on their journey into the next stage of parenthood.
