POLICE say two people face prosecution after drugs were seized in raids carried out in Inverclyde.

The Tele joined officers from Renfrewshire and Inverclyde on an intelligence-led operation on Thursday, when four properties were searched in the Port Glasgow and Greenock area under warrant.

The operation to disrupt dealers has resulted in a quantity of controlled drugs - believed to be diazepam - being seized from the properties.

A 39-year-old man and 44-year-old woman will be subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged drugs offences.

Detective Inspector Suzie Chow of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde CID said: “We have teams of dedicated officers working in our communities every day, executing warrants and targeting drug dealers. This latest seizure and arrests demonstrate that we will continue to act on information and pursue those involved in any form of drug dealing which causes misery and damage to our communities.

“If you have information about drug activity in your area please contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given in confidence.”
