WEST College Scotland is investigating a complaint about the music performance course in Greenock.

It has been alleged that the wrong graded unit was delivered for the HNC course in 2015.

An angry parent of one student says that, as a result, the first few months of the HND course this year had to be spent doing last year’s work.

She said this has ‘seriously impacted on the quality of learning and achievement’.

And she added that there was now a strong possibility of students not gaining their HND.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “This is an unacceptable course of events, with wasted time, effort, loss of enthusiasm and Student Awards Agency for Scotland debts mounting.

“It is not a competent way to deliver a course.

“I feel let down, as does my son, and as a taxpayer I do not feel my money has been well spent in this respect.”

The Tele contacted West College Scotland bosses over the complaint.

A spokesman for the college said the matter is being properly investigated in line with internal complaints procedures.

He added: “In the circumstances it would be quite wrong for us to discuss this matter publicly.

“Our complaints procedures are fully compliant with the standards of the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.

“The matter will be dealt with expeditiously, transparently, thoroughly and objectively.”
