RESURGENT indie rockers Cast have announced they are to perform in Greenock later this year.

The Liverpool outfit, whose live show was once described by Noel Gallagher as a ‘religious experience’, will perform at the Greenock Town Hall on November 24.

Tickets for the show are expected to be snapped up quickly when they go online for sale today.

Local promoter Andrew McDermid, also known as ‘McD’, says Cast will raise the roof at the town hall.

He said: “We are over the moon to have Cast playing in Greenock.

“The town hall is a great venue and has hosted artists such as Ian Brown, Babyshambles, The Zutons and Morrissey in recent years.

“The View have played there twice now too – and they also love it.

“Cast will be a great addition to this impressive list.

“They will go down a storm.”

Cast originally formed in 1992, coming together from the ashes of two of the most lauded guitar bands of the time, The La’s and Shack.

Their first album, All Change, spawned a run of hit singles and went on to become the biggest selling debut of all time for Polydor Records.

With the original line-up of John Power (guitar/vocals), Liam ‘Skin’ Tyson (lead guitar), Pete Wilkinson (bass) and Keith O’Neill (drums) re-united and new album, Troubled Times in the bag, the band are heading to Greenock on the crest of a wave.

John Power, the band’s iconic vocalist, is no stranger to Inverclyde.
He played a successful solo set at Ricos in Greenock back in 2006.

The Cast gig has been organised by McD, Adrian Hunter from Walk Tall and West of Scotland-based promoters My First Music.
