THE McLean Museum and Watt Library in Greenock will be temporarily closed from tomorrow for urgent repairs.

As part of the refurbishment being carried out, urgent work is required on parts of the roof.

Council officials say that during this time, it will be essential to close the museum and library for a short period.

In particular the Watt Library will be affected since the bulk of work is required on the Union Street part of the building.

The museum is due to reopen on Wednesday, but this will be subject to review.

The Watt Library will be closed for two to three weeks. The exact length of closure will be subject to completion of repair work to the property.

A council spokesman said: “This repair work is essential and, due to its location, it will mean temporary closure of both the McLean Museum and, in particular, the Watt Library.

"Staff will be working to minimise the disruption and length of closure. During the period of closure, we would remind visitors that a vast range of heritage, museum and library services are available online.
