A MAN has been found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow of raping two women in Inverclyde.

Twenty-one-year-old David McCready carried out separate attacks in Port Glasgow and Greenock.

A third charge against him was not proven.

Police today welcomed the fact that the sex attacker is off the streets.

Detective Inspector Louise Harvie, from the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Rape Investigation Unit, said: “David McCready is a dangerous man and these horrendous crimes have had a devastating impact on the victims.

"The women involved have shown great courage in coming forward to report his actions and I hope they will be able to move on with their life, knowing he is behind bars and no longer a threat or a danger to them or anyone else.

"We are committed to supporting victims of sexual crimes and investigating those responsible and bringing them to justice. I would encourage any victims to come forward and report it."

McCready is to be sentenced in October.
