A SPECTACULAR stage production will reach new heights tonight as performers take to the skies for their version of a classic children’s fairytale.

Audiences will be taken on a magical adventure to Neverland as Thistle Theatre Company raise the curtain on their production of Peter Pan.

It will also star young performers from the Thistle Theatre Academy of Speech and Drama and is packed full of drama, music and aerial displays.

Director Christine Currie said: “No matter how old you are, you will be absolutely mesmerised by the story.

“We have been working with Flying by Foy, the company that has created aerial sequences for shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice.

“They have been teaching four people in the show how to fly, which is very exciting.”

Based on the much loved story from J.M Barrie, the audience will follow Peter, Wendy, Michael and John as they embark upon an adventure, flying to Neverland where they encounter the Lost Boys, crocodiles, pirates and the dastardly Captain Hook.

Christine added: “We have over 30 local children playing pirates and lost boys.

“It gives the children experience of performing with adults.”

Thistle Theatre Academy is run by Christine’s daughter Lynsey and she will be taking centre stage as title character.

Her mum said: “Lynsey plays Peter Pan in the show, and this will be the first time she will be performing on stage with her pupils.”

The show is at the Beacon Arts Centre tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm.
