BIG-HEARTED volunteers have brewed up funds for good causes.

The Beanfeast charity tea bar in Greenock Sheriff Court has raised £6,000.

This was divided between several good causes, including Ardgowan Hospice and its children and young people’s bereavement service which received £1,000.

The tea bar also donated £1,000 each to Calum’s Cabin, for families affected by cancer, as well as to the Port Glasgow Otters Swimming Club and the nursery at Wemyss Bay Primary School.

Meanwhile, Craigmarloch School received a cheque for £2,000.

Audrey Fraser, who is the treasurer of the charity tea bar, said: “If it wasn’t for the local support we receive we wouldn’t be able to raise that money.

“I would like to thank everyone for supporting us.

“We’re always looking for more volunteers ,so if anyone could spare a few hours then please get in touch.”

Alasdair Hendry, who is the chairman of the charity, paid tribute to the amazing volunteers who work tirelessly in the tea bar, day in and day out.

He said: “I would like to pay tribute to all the ladies in Beanfeast for giving up their free time to run the tea bar at the court which allows the charity to donate all of its profits to local children’s good causes.”

Anyone who would like to volunteer at the tea bar should phone 722361 or 803536.
