THE body of a woman has been found in a house in Greenock.
Police made the grim discovery at about 11am today in a property in Forsyth Street in the west end.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff of Greenock CID says the death is being treated as 'unexplained'.
He told the Tele: "A member of the public visited the address of the householder and when there was no reply they contacted the police.
"The police attended and discovered the body of a female in a house in Forsyth Street in Greenock.
"The female's identity is still to be confirmed.
"It is being treated as unexplained at the moment pending a post mortem."
It is understood that the grim discovery is not related to the major missing person search taking place in Inverkip.
The search for Margaret Fleming, who has not been seen for over a week, continues.
