A GREENOCK musician has been living it up in LA working with Grammy Award-winning producers behind hits by John Legend and Beyonce.

Singer-songwriter Lewis Darrah spent almost three weeks in Los Angeles rubbing shoulders with big-names in his pursuit of a record deal.

Among them was superstar producer and writer Toby Gad, inset, who co-wrote Legend’s worldwide smash hit ‘All of Me’ and collaborated with Beyonce on ‘If I Were a Boy’.

He invited the 18-year-old to perform at his mansion in the Hollywood Hills and is keen to work with him in the new year.

Lewis is also set to collaborate with top vocal engineer Chris O’Ryan — who famously worked with Justin Bieber on his album ‘Purpose’, as well as the likes of Katy Perry, Britney Spears and David Guetta — when he jets back to the States next month.

Lewis told the Telegraph: “It’s all a bit surreal.

“Toby Gad invited me to his house in the hills and he’s something else.
“He was very relaxed and wanted me to play for him and he couldn’t stop smiling.”

During his stint in LA, the promising former Inverclyde Academy pupil spent time in the recording studio with hit-makers such as The Avila Brothers (who have worked with Usher, Janet Jackson and Gwen Stefani), DJ Christian B (Madonna, Celine Dion and Nelly Furtado) and Cary Brothers, below, who has penned tracks for TV shows Vampire Diaries and Grey’s Anatomy.

Lewis is working on his debut EP, ‘My Own Way’, and his whirlwind transatlantic trip also included photoshoots and a gig in Hollywood.

Up next for the budding young musician is a trip to New York next month.

Record label Capitol will fly him out to a promotional event where he’ll mingle with stars like Ne-Yo and Usher.

His American adventure has been made possible thanks to his manager Thomas Johnson.

The New York-based music mogul has high hopes for the fledgling Greenock talent.

Thomas said: “Lewis’ new tracks have now caught the ear of people at major labels.”
