A YOUNG Celtic fan has been promised a signed shirt from one of his football heroes in an exchange of gifts.
Ten-year-old Jaymi Mackie waited behind after his team’s cup win over St Mirren to meet star Scott Sinclair – and handed him his own Celtic scarf as a thank-you for his goal in the game.
The £4.5m winger was so humbled by the gesture he vowed to give Jaymi one of his football tops in return the next time the Greenock schoolboy makes it to a home game.
Jaymi’s mum Lynne Smith, of Kirkwall Road, Greenock, said: “Scott Sinclair is Jaymi’s favourite player because he scores lots of goals.
“Jaymi waited behind for the players to come out because he wanted to give him a Scott Sinclair scarf.
“Scott was delighted.
“Jaymi has autism and ADHD so it was lovely that Scott spent lots of time talking to him.
“He told Jaymi to make sure his mum brought him back so that he could get the strip.
“He was lovely and just chatted away.”
Jaymi couldn’t wait to go into his school Aileymill Primary to tell his friends and favourite teacher Ashley McColl about meeting his footballing hero.
Lynne, 36, added: “Jaymi doesn’t like loud noises, but for some reason he loves the football.
“He is crazy about it.
“Miss McColl is brilliant with him and he couldn’t wait to tell her.”
Jaymi went to the Scottish Cup clash with his mum Lynne and his sisters Amyleigh, 17, and Shannon, 16.
Now they are hoping to get back to Celtic Park soon to make sure that Jaymi gets his hands on Sinclair’s number 11 shirt.
She said: “We can’t make it to the match against Rangers on Sunday, but we will get along to one of Celtic’s other home games.”
