A FLEDGLING Greenock singer struck a chord with High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale during a trip to Los Angeles.

Lewis Darrah mingled with a host of A-list celebrities at a fundraising event in LA, but was particularly thrilled to meet the actress he used to watch in the Disney series.

The 18-year-old rising star was back in the States as he continues to launch his music career with the help of manager Thomas Johnson and executive producer Brent Biggs.

During his trip, he was invited along to the 13th annual Desert Smash charity celebrity tennis event at the plush Westin Mission Hills resort in Palm Springs.

There he was in a VIP box with Tisdale and her sister – and bumped into the actress again later that night.

Former Inverclyde Academy pupil Lewis told the Tele: “Last year people like Kevin Hart, Justin Bieber and Sia were there, this year it was Ashley Tisdale and Jon Hamm, while I also met American Idol judge Randy Jackson too, it was incredible.

“It was great for networking and all day there were pictures being taken and interviews being done. Ashley Tisdale was in front of me on the red carpet and I walked down after her.

“Then I ended up being in the same VIP lounge with her and her sister.

“The first thing I said to her was: ‘I used to watch you on High School Musical’ and she started laughing.

“I knew she was going and picked her out right away.

“She was really nice and we chatted about different stuff.”

Last year Lewis, who lives with his family in Aberfoyle Road, visited Sir Elton John’s Rocket Music company after being spotted performing online.

He has since been flown out to LA several times to meet with a host of big-name producers, writers and executives as he attempts to launch his own career.

The youngster will release new material next month and he believes he is on the right track towards achieving his music dream.

He said: “I’ve been to LA three times now. This is something I’ve always wanted to do since I was six.”
