THE mum of a Port Glasgow woman who lost her battle with cancer has paid tribute to her 'beautiful angel'.
Lesley Hendry, who ran her own cleaning business, was diagnosed with a lung cancer at only 35 years of age and continued to fight even when it spread to her spine.
Her mum Jessie, 63, told how her daughter never gave up hope and has been her inspiration after she too was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer.
In her memory Lesley's partner Anton and his friends channelled her incredible fighting spirit to complete the three peaks challenge to raise money for the hospice in her memory.
Jessie, 63, from Arran Avenue, said: "I really believe Lesley is up there looking after us all.
"I was diagnosed with cancer after an accident in hospital but if is wasn't for that I wouldn't have known.
" I really believe it was Lesley up there looking out for me, it is very comforting.
"She was the most beautiful and fun person to be around.
"She was always laughing and never took the smile off her face.
"God really does have an angel."
Lesley lost her fight for life in April 2015 aged 39, leaving behind her daughter Caitlin, now 20, her mum Jessie and her partner.
In December that year Jessie had to go into hospital for an operation caused by eye infection.
Jessie, who managed the Admiral amusement arcade in West Blackhall Street, said: "While I was in Gartnavel I slipped and broke my pelvis and when they carried out an operation they found a tumour in my pancreas. They cannot operate on it and I have had treatment.
"I will just enjoy my life."
Jessie is determined to follow the bravery shown by her daughter, who lived in Arran Avenue, and went on holidays during her illness as she refused to give in.
She also found happiness with her partner of seven years Anton.
Jessie added: "Anton was the love of her life and he was by her side the whole time. He wanted to do something and climbed the three peaks."
Anton was joined on the challenge by friends Alan Reid, Ian Close and Shana McLarty.
Thanks to the support of family and friends, including the staff at Admiral amusements, they raised nearly £1,500.
A hospice spokeswoman said: "We are delighted to receive the funds raised in memory of Lesley by her partner and friends.
"It is very much appreciated by all here at Ardgowan Hospice.
"We could not do the work that we do without fundraisers like Anton, Shana, Ian & Alan.”
