FAMILIES are invited to run away and join the circus which has rolled into Greenock.

The internationally acclaimed Chinese State Circus, which is at Battery Park until Sunday, will see performers hurtling porcelain jars, spinning plates and balancing on huge pyramids of tables and chairs.

There will also be daring martial arts by the Shaolin Warriors.
Company director Said Debbach, who also trains some of the performers, says audiences will find the ‘Dynasty’ show incredible.

He said: “The performers from China have been training since they were about four or five years old.

“There’s something for everyone as there’s so many acts, including acrobatics and the amazing bicycle girls who show their skills and acrobatics whilst on wheels.”

The colourful two-hour show, which arrived in Greenock following a stint in Hong Kong, also features ‘The Monkey King’ act — one of the most widely known Chinese legends.
Mr Debbach added: The Monkey King is very important in China.

“Throughout history, the story has been a major part of Chinese culture.”

There will also be a breathtaking fusion of ballet, physical strength and balance plus jugglers, live music, diabolo performers and guest artists from Bulgaria.

Tickets are available at the circus booking office.
