SCHOOL is out forever for hundreds of Inverclyde pupils who celebrated in style with posh leavers’ parties.

Girls donned dazzling full-dresses, up-do hair styles and stunning accessories for their final bash while the boys looked equally smart in sharp suits and kilts.

The Tele was there to capture Inverclyde’s newest school leavers as they marked the end of an era.

More than 80 teenagers from Notre Dame enjoyed a fabulous night at the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew.

Principal music teacher Gerard Gordon said it was a fantastic evening.

He said: “It was a huge success. The girls always look wonderful but the boys also took a lot of trouble.

“They looked really sharp and everyone was on fantastic form. There were speeches and dances and a prayer service in the school before we left.

“They were a real credit to the school.”

More than 150 pupils and staff from Inverclyde Academy enjoyed their final fling in trendy Oran Mor in Glasgow’s west end.

"They enjoyed a three-course meal, dancing and a speech from head boy and girl Greig Grierson and Briony Priestman, who thanked staff for their support over the years.

Depute head Paul Brown said there was a reception at the school for family and friends before they left for Glasgow.

He said: “Everyone enjoyed sharing stories of their time at the school.”

There followed an enjoyable evening of dancing, singing, story telling and reminiscing until midnight.

Mr Brown added: “Staff and pupils alike agreed it was one of the best, if not the best, S6 prom ever.”

He would like to thank Lynne McIlmoyle and the prom committee for all their hard work organising the event.

Meanwhile pupils and staff at Craigmarloch kept their celebration local with a party at the Beacon.

The school bid farewell to 12 senior pupils, who joined staff for a top-notch meal and a night of dancing

S6 class teacher Jennifer Dennis said: “The night was a great success. All pupils made a great effort and looked magnificent.

“They barely left the dancefloor all night and enjoyed spending the night with their friends.

“We are sad to see the pupils leave, however they are all heading to positive post school destinations in which their adventure is about to begin.

“We are very proud of them and wish them every success in their future.”

St Columba’s High pupils dusted down their dancing shoes and partied the night away at the Brisbane House Hotel in Largs while 112 glamorous party-goers from Clydeview Academy headed to Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel as St Stephen’s High leavers enjoyed a night to remember at Gleddoch Hotel in Langbank.
