A CHIPPY in Greenock is showing its sweet side by helping people who will be on their own on Christmas Day.

Katey Sinclair and her husband Thomas, who run Katola's Chippy in Grey Place, say the Tele’s recent story about a young mum arranging a festive feast for people on their own tugged on their heart strings.

So they decided to contact organiser Taylor Barnes and offer her enough desserts to feed everyone.

Not only that, but the couple will also donate all the juice and have raised £50 to go towards buying Christmas presents for the guests.

Katey told the Tele: "When we saw Taylor's story in the Tele we thought it was a really good idea.

"We were lucky enough to get the chance to open this place a few months ago so we want to give something back."

Katey also says she has spent Christmas day alone in the past and found it tough.

She said: "It's not a nice feeling to be on your own at Christmas."

Taylor, who is mum to one-year-old Harper, has organised a free Christmas dinner at 134 Steak House in Cathcart Street for people who will be on their own this year.

She says she is blown away by Katey and Thomas's kind gesture to help out.

Taylor said: "I'm lost for words.

"It's just amazing and I really appreciate it."

Taylor has been overwhelmed by the support she has received from the local community, with around £500 in place which she will use to buy presents for everyone who is attending the dinner.

Taylor says she still has some free tickets left for the event, which is 1.30pm for a 2pm start.

They are available by contacting her on 07899 308293.
