POLICE were sent to outside a busy Greenock bar amid concern for the welfare of a woman seen lying on the ground outside the premises.
Officers were despatched to Cathcart Street early this evening after the woman was spotted on public CCTV cameras.
With temperatures plunging, Greenock police say there was concern as the woman was under the influence.
Officers say a welfare check was carried out at 6.15pm and it was established that the female was not in need of any further assistance from them.
Bars and clubs around the town are expected to be busy this evening with revellers as many offices and other workplaces enjoy Christmas parties.
Public authorities have issued several notices of advice this week for people to enjoy themselves responsibly and keep one another safe during the festive party season.
