HEAVY snowfall overnight has brought Inverclyde to a standstill.
The so-called ‘beast from the east’ has taken its toll and covered the district in several feet of snow.
This was the scene at around 7am this morning in Greenock.
There is still a ‘red alert’ weather warning - meaning there is risk to life - in place by the Met Office around the central belt.
People are being warned not to travel.
Buses, taxis, trains and ferries across Inverclyde are all off until at least late morning.
