A MAN has today appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court charged with the murder of 63-year-old Thomas Craig.
John Aitken, 44, was brought from custody for a brief hearing in private this afternoon.
Mr Craig was rushed to Inverclyde Royal in the early hours of yesterday after being found injured following an incident in Dalrymple Street.
He died at the hospital a short time later.
Aitken, of Greenock, made no plea and was remanded in custody, with the case continued for further examination.
He is expected to return to court next week.
A 43-year-old woman who was arrested along with Aitken has been charged with the common assaults of two women, aged 21 and 22, and a 22 year-old man.
She has been released from custody and will be reported separately to the procurator fiscal
