SCHOOL pupils splashed the cash for charity as they went blue in support of Water Aid.

Boys and girls from Gourock Primary dressed in various shades of sapphire in support of the organisation and raised £210.

The ‘water Wednesday’ event was part of the school’s work towards gaining green flag status for being environmentally-friendly.

Children donated money in return for wearing their own topaz togs and will help support the charity’s efforts providing clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene in 28 countries around the world.

Kristy McCready, P2/1 teacher, said: “It went very well and we raised £210 for Water Aid, which we are very pleased with.

“The whole school got involved.

“Water Wednesday was part of our eco schools green flag journey and our focus has been on water and our global goal fix, which is clean water and sanitation.”
