CROWDS ignored the rain as they flocked to a vintage fire engines rally in Greenock.

The team behind the annual display moved it to East India East Harbour this year.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Heritage Trust had a fleet of old and engines as well as live demonstrations for families.

They run the museum and heritage centre in the old Greenock Fire Station, which attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Secretary John Cairns said: "It was a great day and the turnout was good despite the weather.

"We had lots of fire demonstrations and were delighted with the support from the fire service.

"We had a mini parade led by an old 1940s truck and a new model.

"We had some great support from Inverclyde Council and the police.

"This is something which has now become a popular annual event.

"Our footfall for the museum is increasing all the time as well."

The festival had previously taken place at Cathcart Square but it now has a new home at the harbour.

Provost Martin Brennan led the parade in the old engine.

At the harbour there was plenty of action with live fire displays and the vintage collection in full show.

Port Glasgow Fire Station also turned up to deliver a road traffic collision response demonstration.

Organiser John said: "The live fire demonstrations are always really popular, the kids love them.

"East India Harbour is a great venue."
