THE campfires were burning as Belville Community Gardens welcomed families to an exciting outdoor play afternoon.

Children from across Inverclyde joined in the fun at the gardens as they tried out a number of activities in the fresh air.

They learned more about building fires as part of a whole host of outward bound style activities.

Manager Sally Clough said: "It was all about learning how to play outdoors and using your imagination.

"The kids loved the campfires, they were really popular."

The busy Belville hub continues to offer a range of groups and activities for all ages.

Their drop in Will o' the Wild taster sessions are designed to introduce local families to the outdoors and the activities going on in the green space in the east end.

They also held a 'wild week' for young people aged 11-16.
