BUDDING young reporters from a Greenock primary school created their own newspaper - before turning the tables on Tele staff to interview them.

Primary three pupils have proudly published the 'St Mary's Express' - a school newspaper packed with interviews, features, photographs and chats with staff and youngsters.

After they had delivered them to local places such as care homes, shops and nurseries, the youngsters sat down with the Tele's digital editor Amy Shearer and chief photographer George Munro to tell them about the experience.

As well as asking the duo about life in the newsroom, the up and coming journalists told the pair about their experience creating their own news title.

Amy said: "We were delighted to be welcomed along to St Mary's to learn about their press pack, the boys and girls were brilliant.

"They really asked some great questions and were so keen on sharing all they had learned about newspapers.

"To see them so enthusiastic at as young as seven-years-old is incredible.

"The future of local news is safe in their little hands."

Reenie Henry, Roman Kane, Lana Finlay and Brendan Boyd showed off their press pack exploits and were commended by class teacher Rachel Mahon,

She told the Tele: "They were so excited to create and deliver their own newspapers across the area.

"They have had such great feedback and were so excited to welcome the Telegraph to the school.

"They have worked very hard on their project."

Tele snapper George says it was lovely to take a walk down memory lane and discuss his career at the Tele with the class.

He said: "Primary three had so many excellent questions to ask, it was lovely to revisit some happy times and share them with the class."
