THIS week's look into the Greenock Telegraph archives takes us back 13 years - when the Tele revealed an exclusive first look at the new £15 million home for St Columba’s High School in Gourock.

Inverclyde Council unveiled designs showing what the new school would look like after it moved from its temporary base at the old Greenock High to the building that was then Gourock High in spring 2013.

Council bosses said they were ‘delighted’ with how the plans had come together.

Meanwhile, home-buyers were in for a spook-tacular surprise with a ‘haunted house’ for sale in Kilmacolm.

The Victorian villa had a skeleton dangling in the doorway, cobwebs in the conservatory and spiders spinning their way down from the ceilings.

There was even a ‘Haunted House For Sale’ sign in the front garden.

Elsewhere, pupils turned their school into a hip hop academy as they danced their way to good health.

Boys and girls took to the dance floor to show off all they had learned about keeping in shape as part of a ultra-modern PE project.

Inverclyde Academy and charity Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland teamed up to deliver the workout.

In other news, Inverclyde’s Myths and legends festival survived a downpour to celebrate the area's talent at the Battery Park.

Hundreds crowded into the park for the festival highlight — the bringing of a baby phoenix to life, followed by the dazzling fireworks display.

The festival, organised by Inverclyde Council, involved schools and community organisations.
