IT'S a new year and today we resume our pictorial time travelling trip into years gone by, looking at historic images of local locations and comparing them to the same places today.
Greenock's former Crescent Bar was a popular watering hole in the town in 1998, above. Below, it has been replaced with arguably the even more popular Delhi Deluxe takeaway.
This could easily be a filming location for the period TV drama Heartbeat, but it is in fact Cartsdyke Railway Station in the 1960s. Below, the station as it looks today.
A vibrant scene at Gourock Pierhead in 1973, above, and below, the same location today.
A view of Greenock's Belvile Street after the turn of the century. Below, the view from Strone today.
A busy scene on Greenock's Smith Street in yesteryear, and below, the street as it is today.
We'll be back next Sunday with another trip down memory lane.
