DOZENS of youngsters embraced their inner performer as a theatre school launched its first Scottish branch in Greenock.

Around 40 little ones attended a free open day run by Limelight Theatre School.

It was set up in in Northampton 23 years ago, but owner Katie Bunting-Brown chose to expand in Inverclyde after her niece moved to the area.

Greenock Telegraph:

Jaymee Lees Halil - who trained under Katie in England - will teach musical theatre and dance to youngsters as young as two at St John’s Episcopal Church on Union Street with the help of two other teachers.Katie will also travel up to teach once a month.

She said: “We’re not your standard dance school - we’re a theatre and performance school. We’re also a fully inclusive school."

“A lot of parents told us that they have children with autism who haven’t managed to join other groups. It’s really important to us that anyone who wants to learn can do so.”

Limelight’s Greenock classes will see youngsters receive tuition in drama, singing, jazz, hip hop, tap, ballet and other styles of dance. Those interested in joining the classes, which run every Saturday, should contact limelighttheatre@aol.com or contact Katie on 07796 672138.
