POPULAR Inverclyde band The Laurettes say all their dreams are coming true as they launch their debut album.

Greenock Telegraph: The Laurettes

Lauren O'Donoghue and Lynette Beaton have put their heart and soul into recording Meet Me at the Stage.

The duo released their first single, Witches, from the album to critical acclaim and say they hope to capture the spirit of sisterhood in their music.

They have enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last couple of years, playing to the Scotland crowd at Murrayfield for the Six Nations and now they are all set to head off to New York for Tartan Week before packing crowds in at festivals across the country.

But the hard-working singers are forever grateful for their start in Inverclyde more than a decade ago.

Lynette said: "To be releasing our album is amazing. We have waited so long for this and we have worked so hard.

"It was a fantastic experience putting it together. We hope people enjoy listening to it as much as we have loved every minute of making it.

"We are having the most incredible journey and I can't believe where we are going. We are living a dream."

The Laurettes first started out in 2010 after Lauren and Lynette connected through the local music circuit.

Lynette said: "We will be forever be grateful to our friend the late Alan Sandison who gave us our first gig in his bar Monteiths. It was a great place and we loved it there. We miss Alan very much. That is where it all started for us."

The Laurettes have since performed with The View’s Kyle Falconer, The Hedrons and The Silencers in SWG3 in Glasgow and Skerryvore and they have a packed schedule.

Lauren said: "We are at festivals and gigs every single weekend from now to the end of the summer. It is crazy.

"We are very inspired by the stories of women down the years and that has influenced our music."

Meet Me at the Stage was recorded with producer Keith Morrison of  Wee Studio Records and The Laurettes also want to thank drummer Emily Irving and bassist Ari Louglin who played on the album.
