INVERCLYDE Council officers have drawn up a list of local roads which are set for improvements in 2024/25 under a major near-£1m improvement programme.

A report by officials says the priority investment list for carriageways has been compiled based on 'how important' the road is.

Analysis of results from the Scottish Road Maintenance Condition Survey, local knowledge of defective lengths of carriageway, number of complaints, accident statistics, liability claims and public, councillor and other requests, have also been factors in the decision making process.

The roads which are set to be resurfaced include Auchenfoil Road, Kilmacolm (from Margaret’s Mill to Mountblow), the full length of Burnside Road and Golf Road in Gourock, Craigbet Road, Quarrier’s Village (from Nittingshill Bridge to west side of Laurel Way) and Millhouse Road, Inverkip (from Woodhouse Fuels to Dunrod Road).

Gibshill Road/Smillie Street in Greenock (from Weir Street to Lansbury Street), Old Largs Road, Greenock (from Darndaff to Scottish Water Private Road), Ratho Street, Greenock (from Kincaid Court to A8), Regent Street, Greenock (from Lynedoch Street to Morton Supporters’ Club), Victoria Road, Gourock (from Golf Road to Barrhill Road), Weir Street, Greenock (from Ladyburn Street to Gibshill Road) and West Stewart Street/Houston Street, Greenock (from Jamaica Street to Patrick Street) are also on the list.

A number of streets are lined up for large patching work, including Greenock's Kenmore Drive, Drumforchar Road, Dalrymple Street, Balfron Road, Tobago Street, Balloch Road, Nelson Street, Lemmon Street and Columba Street, as well as Gourock's Cloch Road and Kirn Drive

Belmont Road and Cargil Avenue in Kilmacolm, Main Street in Inverkip and Boglestone Roundabout in Port Glasgow are also set for works.

Councillors on the environment and regeneration committee will be asked to approve the list at a meeting on Thursday.
