A GREENOCK man who had been charged with aggressive behaviour towards a woman has had the case dropped by prosecutors.

Mark Connachan was accused of shouting, swearing and acting aggressively at a flat on Cathcart Street on December 1, 2022.

The 37-year-old was also alleged to have stolen a mobile phone from the same address.

According to court papers, the alleged offences were aggravated by involving abuse of Connachan’s partner or ex-partner.

A court hearing last week was told that the case called for trial twice last year, in February and October, but did not proceed.

Witnesses were missing from the latest hearing and a Crown prosecutor said there was ‘not much prospect’ of them ever turning up.

Sheriff David Pender deserted the case simpliciter – meaning no further action will be taken.
