A NUMBER of Greenock jobs lost following the recent collapse of a long-established business have been salvaged thanks to another firm making a ‘positive investment in the community’.

Build Depot has launched a new bathroom division in a bid to help retain ‘skilled professionals’ who lost their employment after the collapse of bathroom supplies retailer Ware With All in February.

The Telegraph previously reported that nine redundancies were made when the company, which had operated in Inverclyde for more than 20 years, appointed liquidators.

Ware With All was founded in 2002 and was originally based at Cappielow Industrial Estate, before moving to Fort Matilda in 2006.

Greenock Telegraph:

The business moved to a larger premises on the corner of Patrick Street and Clarence Street a decade later.

Recognising the value of the team’s experience and established reputation, bosses at Build Depot say they have stepped in to ensure the workers could continue serving the area.

The new Bath and Tile Studio, which opened its doors in March, is the first step in the company’s plans to continue access to the expertise previously offered by the ‘well-respected’ local bathroom specialist.

It is hoped that showrooms will also open in Dunoon, Largs and Larkhall in the future as the business expands.

Greenock Telegraph:

Director Lucy Rodger said: “Local service and being a part of the community is something close to our hearts.

"When we saw the threat of a local bathroom supplier closing, we knew we had to act.

“By saving these jobs and expertise, we can provide a valuable local service for customers and bolster our existing offerings.”

Build Depot, previously known as M&J Builders Merchants, has been supplying west and central Scotland for more than 25 years across its four branches.

The new bathroom showroom is now open at its Greenock branch on Lynedoch Street.
