THE court case of a man accused of making racially-aggravated remarks at a Greenock pharmacy and assaulting two police officers has been pushed back.

Steven McNeill, 49, was due to stand trial on five charges relating to alleged incidents on December 9 last year.

Prosecutors say McNeill behaved in a threatening or abusive manner at Clyde Pharmacy on Roxburgh Street by shouting, swearing, and acting in an aggressive manner.

The charge further alleges that he directed racially-aggravated remarks and gestures towards the woman.

McNeill, of the Inverclyde Centre, is also charged with uttering threats of violence towards officers at Greenock police office on the same day.

He is further alleged to have refused to leave a marked cell van at the station, making his body a dead weight and demanding he be carried into the custody suite.

McNeill also faces a charge of assaulting a police constable by attempting to headbutt him, as well as an allegation that he seized and pushed a police sergeant on the body.

He was due to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday, but this was adjourned due to an essential Crown business being unavailable.

McNeill will return to court for trial on November 20.
