THE trial of a Gourock knife attack accused has been pushed back after a court heard that the man he allegedly scarred for life almost two years ago has 'not yet been traced'.

Zaak Donnachie, 22, is charged with striking a man on the body with a blade to his injury and permanent disfigurement on Lyle Street on June 8, 2022.

Donnachie was due to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday, where he maintained his plea of not guilty.

A fiscal depute requested that the trial be pushed back as a result of the alleged victim having not been traced.

Sheriff James Varney granted the adjournment ‘with hesitation’.

He added: “I may not be minded on another occasion to do that.

“It’s getting to some vintage now. I would like to see it resolved one way or another at the next calling.”

Donnachie, of Argyll Road, will return to court for trial on August 21, with his bail being continued in the meantime.
