A 23-year-old man is fighting for his life this morning after a serious road crash on the A78 Inverkip Road last night.
Police confirmed that the driver, who is from the local area, is in a critical condition in intensive care at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
Sergeant David Wilson, of Greenock Police, said: "A vehicle travelling near to Bankfoot Farm Riding School left the road, went through a barrier and down an embankment."
Emergency services raced to the scene shortly after 8pm and the road was closed to allow road crash experts to carry out an investigation.
Police are releasing no further details at present.
