A RUNNING Gourock family hot-footed it around Edinburgh to help sick kids.
The owners of local transport firm, Wilson’s Buses, took part in the city’s half-marathon to raise money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, formerly known as Yorkhill Children’s Charity.
Robert Wilson, his wife, Carol, and sons Robert and Ross were supporting a fund launched by Branchton couple Kirsty Story and Richard Cairns after the hospital helped their son, Leyton, when he became seriously ill.
Little Leyton was left fighting for his life after developing meningitis, but against all the odds the 11-month-old pulled through thanks to the nurses and doctors at both the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
Leyton will be two years old in October, and the couple say he is now ‘doing really well’.
The Wilson family say they were keen to show support for little Leyton, his loved ones and the medics who cared for him.
Their times at the half-marathon were: Robert jnr - one hour 28 minutes, Robert snr - 1-35, Ross - 2-15 and Carol - 2-28.
Robert snr said: “We still have a donation bucket on our Branchton bus, and we would like to thank everyone who sponsored us.
“It was a great day. I’m proud of my family for taking part and doing so well.”
