A MASSIVE jobs boost has been announced for Inverclyde with 500 new full-time posts set to be created by a global business service company.

American firm Concentrix has announced it is moving into a vacant building at Faulds Park in Gourock.

The move is being facilitated thanks to a £2.1 million grant from Scottish Enterprise from its Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) scheme — a fund set up to encourage companies to move to Scotland and create jobs.

Concentrix have confirmed they will move into the ‘recently transformed’ Faulds Building, which is just behind Amazon and was last occupied by IT and electronics outfit Celestica.

The company expects to create 500 full-time posts here.

Philip Cassidy, senior vice president of Concentrix Corporation, said: “As a leader in global business services, our ultimate goal is to differentiate our clients in their marketplace and help make them more competitive.

“To accomplish this requires a significant investment in people, training and technology.

“An integral part of our network of global delivery centres, this brand-new centre in Scotland will deliver end-to-end customer engagement services, technology innovation, analytics and process optimisation.” The new global delivery centre will become the firm’s 10th in Europe and will be used to support the company’s clients around the world.

Concentrix employs more than 50,000 staff and has more than 50 facilities worldwide, including in America, Canada, Brazil and Asia.

In April, bosses announced they were creating 1,000 new jobs in Belfast.

Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said: “I am delighted that through RSA we have been able to support Concentrix in their expansion — creating 500 new positions.

“The decision to invest in Scotland is testament to the attractiveness of Scotland as a location for international investors, thanks to the skills of our people, a competitive cost base and a well-developed business infrastructure.

“This is a fantastic jobs boost for Inverclyde and we look forward to working with the rapidly expanding company as they continue to grow and prosper in Scotland.” Concentrix is a subsidiary of the SYNNEX Corporation and is based in 25 countries throughout the world, supporting clients in industries including banking and financial services, healthcare and retail.

The company joins the likes of online retail giant Amazon and well-established local firm James Walker Devol Engineering at Faulds Park.

Local MSP Stuart McMillan, pictured above, was among the first to welcome the company to Inverclyde.

He said: “I am delighted to learn that Concentrix have received a Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grant up to £2.1m to bring jobs to Inverclyde.

“The funding from the Scottish Government, through Scottish Enterprise, is another example of the continued commitment to bring opportunities and jobs to Inverclyde, given the recent saving of Ferguson Shipbuilders.

“The funding could bring five hundred new, full-time jobs to the area, which is tremendous news. Once again we are hearing of positive news for Inverclyde which I’m sure everyone locally will welcome.

“Inverclyde continues to be a place to invest in and I will work hard to ensure this continues.” Concentrix’s new Gourock base was vacated a year ago by Canadian-based Celestica with the loss of around 70 jobs.
