A TROUBLED Gourock pensioner threw a cup of tea over her husband during a drink-fuelled rage — then slashed her own wrists.

Alcoholic Anne Devins, 61, has now been warned by a sheriff that she could be arrested and put in custody for failing to co-operate with court background reports.

She’d previously pled guilty to three criminal charges, including an assault on her husband.

Devins, of Ashburn Gardens, hurled a cup of tea over him, repeatedly attempted to kick him on the body and threw telephones and a packet of cigarettes at him.

She also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm, repeatedly shouted and then cut her wrists with a steak knife.

The offences took place at her home on 1 September.

Devins also admitted shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner and throwing a glass ashtray on 29 July.

Sheriff Derek Hamilton told her: “One matter was continued due to the unavailability of a psychiatrist but I am concerned about the other matter.

“Sentence was deferred for a report from alcohol services and you simply put the ‘phone down on them.

“If you fail to co-operate with an order of the court again there will be no alternative but to have you removed into custody.

“I don’t want any further nonsense.” Devins is due to be sentenced on 19 November.
