A YEAR after the tragic death of pop icon David Bowie there will be a special celebration of his music – and it’s coming to Greenock.

Top tribute act the Bowie Experience will pay homage to the legendary musician at the Beacon Arts Centre in May.

The highly-rated show will stop off in Greenock as part of a massive UK-wide tour which starts today and runs into next year.

Frontman Laurence Knight is an acclaimed vocalist, actor and multi-instrumentalist who has performed all over the globe in the last 20 years and performed at the official ‘David Bowie Is’ exhibition at The V&A London, The Royal Albert Hall and alongside The Cure, Boney M, Roy Wood and the Boomtown Rats.

He is supported by a full band and backing singers in what is described as the ‘world’s number 1’ celebration of Bowie.

The cast will perform hits including Space Oddity, Starman, Life on Mars, Let’s Dance and Heroes.

Bowie died from cancer on January 10 last year at the age of 69.

The Bowie Experience tour will celebrate his life’s work and iconic songs from a career spanning five decades.
